We can arrange airport pickups where Giorgos will wait for you in the arrival area of the airport. If you wish to arrange this we will need all your flight details.
Drive time is around 80 to 90 minutes.
Heraklion airport is located 140 km to the East of Chania so that the drive time to the South-West of the island is about 3 hours.
The two villages are only 12 km apart in a straight line but the road that joins the two villages passes inland, winding its way up and down the hills and the drive takes a minimum of 50 minutes. There is a (quicker and cheaper) ferry connection between the two villages but it only runs once a day when the sea conditions are good.
The trip from Sougia to Omalos and the entrance of the gorge of Samaria takes about 50 minutes. People staying in Sougia and wishing to walk through the gorge of Samaria will often take a taxi to Omalos in the morning (unless there is a public bus but this is not always the case) and return to Sougia from Agia Roumeli in the evening with the ferry boat. Others who leave their car at the entrance of the gorge of Samaria will return to Sougia from Agia Roumeli by ferry boat and will then need to get back to Omalos. T
The trip from Sougia to Agia Irini and the entrance of the gorge of Agia Irini takes around 35 minutes. Useful if you want to descend the gorge on foot or need picking up once you reach the top.
